چکیده

We consider the case, in QCD, of a single jet propagating within strongly interacting fluid, finite extent. Interactions lead to appearance source energy-momentum fluid. The remnant that escapes container is analyzed along with portions medium excited by jet. study effect static versus semi-realistic expanding medium, jets traveling inward outward. response via recoils partonic scatterings based on weakly-coupled description and its combination hydrodynamical strongly-coupled description, followed incorporation into effects these limits reconstructed energy, momentum mass jet, as function angle away from original parton direction are studied. It demonstrated different flow velocity configurations produce considerable differences observables. This work highlights importance accurate dynamical modeling soft foundation which calculate modification, casts skepticism results obtained without such modeling.

Jet observables without jet algorithms

We introduce a new class of event shapes to characterize the jet-like structure of an event. Like traditional event shapes, our observables are infrared/collinear safe and involve a sum over all hadrons in an event, but like a jet clustering algorithm, they incorporate a jet radius parameter and a transverse momentum cut. Three of the ubiquitous jet-based observables — jet multiplicity, summed ...

Probabilistic picture for medium-induced jet evolution

A high energy jet that propagates in a dense medium generates a cascade of partons that can be described as a classical branching process. A simple generating functional for the probabilities to observe a given number of gluons at a given time is derived. This is used to obtain an evolution equation for the inclusive one-gluon distribution, that takes into account the dependence upon the energy...

Jet-shape Observables

Jet-shape studies provide information on QCD dynamics, are essential tools in analysis of (expected) “new physics” events and are needed for theoretical improvements and tests for Monte Carlo simulations. Jetsshape measurement involves the bulk of the events. They provide 30% of the entries in the determination of αs. Jets are present in all hard events in all high energy processes (ee, DIS and...

Effects of Bulk Viscosity on Cosmological Evolution

The effect of bulk viscisity on the evolution of the homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models is considered. Solutions are found, with a barotropic equation of state, and a viscosity coefficient that is proportional to a power of the energy density of the universe. For flat space, power law expansions, related to extended inflation are found as well as exponential solutions, related to old...

Hadrons in Medium – Observables

The observable consequences of a lowering of the restmasses of vector mesons on dilepton spectra in the SIS energy regime (HADES) and on photoabsorption cross sections on nuclei are studied in a transporttheoretical framework. We also investigate the consequences of a mass-shift of kaons in dense matter and compare with recent SIS data. The need for a detailed understanding of the elementary pr...
